We have been facing many catastrophic events lately, often dismissed as just “bad weather.” But this is not bad weather. Although nature is usually forgiving to its creatures, our harmful practices since the Industrial Revolution have taken a heavy toll. Pollution, toxic waste, overproduction, and overconsumption are exhausting our planet’s resources. It’s painful to admit, but aren’t these catastrophes largely our fault? We have drastically altered our environment. Before cities, there was no asphalt; natural soil could absorb water, and rivers followed their natural paths. By changing so much, we disrupted the water cycle itself—leading to floods, droughts, and violent storms. We need to act quickly to stop this suffering. And it’s not only nature that suffers—humans do, too. Too many of us are losing homes, families, and loved ones to these calamities.
